Deportation of Ghanaian 'African Tribe' Leader Confirmed
The Home Office has confirmed the deportation of Kofi Offeh, a Ghanaian man who led a self-styled African tribe in the Scottish Borders.
Offeh, who refers to himself as King Atehene, established a camp with two women in a wooded area near Jedburgh in 2022. They named their group the Kingdom of Kubala and occupied council-owned land, leading to multiple eviction attempts by local authorities.
After persistent efforts, the group was finally removed from the woodland site in October 2022.

Earlier this week, local media captured footage of Offeh arriving at Kotoko International Airport in Accra, Ghana's capital.

Online Presence and Media Attention
The Kingdom of Kubala has garnered significant attention online, boasting over 100,000 followers across TikTok and Facebook platforms. Their activities have also attracted worldwide media coverage.
Claims and Eviction Details
During their occupation in the Borders, the group claimed they were reclaiming land that was taken from their ancestors 400 years ago. They did not acknowledge the authority of the courts in their eviction proceedings.
The eviction was broadcast live on TikTok, showing Offeh and his "handmaiden," Kaura Taylor from Texas, being handcuffed by immigration officers.
Jean Gasho, aged 43, originally from Zimbabwe and who identifies as Queen Nandi, departed the site with her head covered, remaining discreet in the back of a pick-up truck.
