Four Charged After Two Teens Killed in Newport Motorbike Crash

Four individuals appeared in court charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice after a motorbike crash in Newport killed two teenagers. The deaths are under a murder investigation with two men charged with murder.

Four Appear in Court Over Fatal Motorbike Crash

Four individuals have been charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice following a motorbike crash that resulted in the deaths of two teenagers.

Jaydon Jack Eric Bowyer, 19, and Ta-Shay Carlton Canoville, 16, both residents of Newport, died from blunt trauma after a collision involving a motorbike and a vehicle that subsequently fled the scene on Aberthaw Road on 7 May.

On Tuesday, Yonis Zaid, 18, Ella Persse, 21, Montaser Yafai, 23, along with a 16-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Newport Magistrates' Court in relation to the incident.

Zaid, Persse, and Yafai were remanded in custody, while the 16-year-old was granted conditional bail.

Ongoing Murder Investigation

The deaths of Jaydon Jack Eric Bowyer and Ta-Shay Carlton Canoville are currently the focus of a murder investigation.

Terell Case, 18, of Sandpiper Way, Duffryn, and Joshua Williams, 34, of no fixed abode, have been charged with two counts of murder and are scheduled to appear in court later this month.

Two women aged 24 and 40 from Newport, who were previously arrested on suspicion of murder, have since been released without charge.

Community and Family Statements

Jaydon's family described him as "a truly adored member of the community," while Ta-Shay's family said he brought "love, laughter and light" into their lives.

Detective Superintendent Steven Maloney stated:

"Both Jaydon and Ta-Shay's families are being supported by specialist officers and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.
We would like to thank the community for their support while we continue to investigate fully the circumstances of these tragic deaths."
