Fire Breaks Out at Thurmaston Shopping Centre
A significant fire caused extensive damage to a shopping centre in Leicestershire during the early hours of Saturday morning.
The fire service reported receiving multiple emergency calls regarding the blaze affecting several units at Thurmaston Shopping Centre, located on Barkby Thorpe Lane, at approximately 04:00 BST.

Firefighting Efforts and Response
At the peak of the incident, eight fire engines were deployed alongside two aerial appliances, with over 40 firefighters actively engaged in tackling the fire.
Authorities advised local residents to keep their windows and doors closed due to a large smoke plume emanating from the site. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries related to the fire.
Photographs from the scene reveal flames visible through the windows and a substantial portion of the roof has collapsed as a result of the fire.
Road Closures and Access
Police confirmed that Barkby Thorpe Lane, at its junction with Highway Road, was closed to traffic; however, access to the nearby Asda supermarket remained open to the public.
