Euromillions Winner Dies in Suspected Hit-and-Run
A Euromillions winner who had recently saved the life of a police officer has died following a suspected hit-and-run incident.
Anthony Canty, a 39-year-old father of two, was struck while riding his bicycle in Tiptree, Essex, on 21 May. He was taken to hospital in serious condition and passed away four days later.
The water supply worker had performed CPR on a police officer who collapsed on a bus in April 2020, shortly before winning a £1 million Euromillions prize.

Police Investigation and Arrest
Essex Police reported that an 18-year-old driver of a Ford KA was arrested in connection with the collision but was later released under investigation.
The incident occurred at approximately 06:30 BST on Maldon Road, where the driver allegedly fled the scene after hitting Canty.
Officers located the driver and initially arrested him on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drink or drugs, and failing to stop.
"He remains under investigation and our enquiries continue,"
a police spokesman said, appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Background on Anthony Canty and Lottery Win
Canty, from Maldon, won the Euromillions prize alongside his partner, Katie Sullivan, on 5 May 2020, just days after his act of saving the police officer.
The couple were photographed celebrating by spraying champagne and holding their giant cheque. Canty had expressed his intention to continue working despite the lottery win.
