Eluned Morgan Predicts Plaid Cymru Victory in Her Senedd Constituency
Eluned Morgan, leader of Welsh Labour, has stated that Plaid Cymru is expected to win the Senedd election in her constituency, placing her seat at risk.
Using cocktail tins as props, the First Minister recorded a social media video to highlight the threat she faces in the upcoming election on 7 May.
She indicated that Plaid Cymru will lead the poll in the Pembrokeshire Ceredigion constituency, where she is standing, potentially securing "at least two seats, possibly even a third."
"The real battle is between Reform, the Tories, and Labour," she said.
She noted that a recent poll showed she would win one of the six seats in the constituency,
"but it will not necessarily stay that way unless you come out and vote Labour."
She added that the
"real danger is, if you do not turn out, if you do not support Labour, you will get another Reform person."
Senedd Election Context and Campaign Details
In her video, Morgan represented herself with a pink strawberry daiquiri can, while other parties were represented with cans matching their colours.
A new electoral system is being used to elect the Senedd, which is expanding from 60 to 96 members.
Six members will be elected in each of the 16 new constituencies.
Opinion polls during the campaign have shown Labour in third place behind Plaid Cymru and Reform, with some suggesting Morgan is at risk of losing her seat.
