Youths Charged Following Bus Driver Assault
Eight youths have been charged in connection with an assault on a bus driver outside the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
Police responded to reports of a disturbance at approximately 19:00 on Sunday. Initially, two youths were charged earlier this week; subsequent investigations identified six additional suspects who will be reported to the relevant authorities.
The bus driver received medical assessment at the hospital following the incident. Lothian Buses confirmed that one of its drivers was involved and stated it is cooperating fully with police inquiries.
Police Statement on the Incident
Chief Superintendent David Robertson described the event as an unprovoked attack on a man performing his duties.
"Violent incidents like this will not be tolerated in our community, and we will ensure that those who do engage in this type of behaviour are brought to justice."
"We will continue to work with our partner agencies and would encourage anyone with information or concerns of this type of behaviour to call Police Scotland on 101."
