Car on Tracks Blocks Rail Line Between St Erth and St Ives

Rail Line Blocked After Car Ends Up on Tracks

Network Rail reported that a driver "lost control" of their vehicle, resulting in the car ending up on the railway tracks.

Great Western Railway (GWR) confirmed that the line between St Erth and St Ives in Cornwall was obstructed after the incident occurred near Carbis Bay.

The car has since been removed from the tracks, and the line is expected to reopen shortly.

GWR stated that it was unable to provide rail replacement coaches but arranged taxis to operate between St Erth and St Ives to assist passengers.

Craig Munday from Network Rail posted on X, stating:

"Unfortunately due to a car incurring on the branch line... behind the bridge, unfortunately a motorist lost control of their car and careered through the fencing and on to the railway line.
We're doing all we can to get the railway back up and running."
