Life Changed by £6.1m Lottery Win
Winning a £6.1 million lottery jackpot transformed the lives of Kevin and Michele Jones almost overnight. Ten years later, while they continue to enjoy the freedom their life-changing win provided, they dedicate much of their time to volunteering within their local community.
The Cheshire couple's lives were dramatically altered in 2016 when Kevin, who was then working as a bus driver, discovered he had matched all six Lotto numbers.
Volunteering at The Pantry @ Sandbach Hub
Michele expressed that one of the most rewarding aspects of their newfound freedom has been the opportunity to assist people who might otherwise face hunger by volunteering at her local food bank.
She joined the team at The Pantry @ Sandbach Hub four years ago, supporting individuals struggling with the rising costs of food and living expenses.
"I've always wanted to help other people, so I've got the opportunity now,"she said.
"My husband saw it advertised that they were looking for volunteers and I've joined it from day one."
The pantry offers low-cost food and support to residents, while also connecting them with organisations that provide advice and practical assistance.
Michele described being part of the team as one of the most fulfilling parts of her life.
"It's an incredible team who do incredible things for people, and I feel privileged to be part of it,"she said.
"The satisfaction of seeing people not go hungry is tremendous."

Community Involvement Beyond the Food Bank
In addition to Michele's involvement at the pantry, the couple have collaborated with the National Lottery to volunteer on various community projects, including assisting at an arts group in Manchester earlier this year.

The Moment of Winning
Kevin recalled that he was working on a bus route between Crewe and Newcastle-under-Lyme when he realized he had become a millionaire.
"I won the lot - £6m!"he said.
"I rang my boss up and I said: 'Can I get off the bus at Crewe; can you take me off the service because something important has happened?'"
"He said: 'Go on.' And I told him I'd won the lottery!"
Despite the life-changing news, Kevin completed his shift the following morning.
"He didn't want to let people down that were catching the bus to work,"Michele explained.
Prioritizing Family and Lifestyle Changes
The couple spent their first night after the win discussing how their lives would change and decided that helping family would be their priority.
They later relocated from Crewe to Sandbach to be closer to relatives and have enjoyed regular trips to the Canary Islands over the years.
Kevin emphasized that the greatest benefit of winning was the ability to support family members and the freedom it provided.
"The first priority was to look after the family,"Kevin said.
"We've secured their futures. They have no mortgages anymore.
"We all have to go to work, we have obligations to pay mortgages, bills, etc, and all that was suddenly removed.
"We had the freedom to go where we wanted, when we wanted."

Lotto Game Overhaul
The couple's story emerges as Lotto undergoes its most significant overhaul since its inception, with operator Allwyn announcing changes expected to more than double the number of millionaires created annually.
