11 Men Granted Unconditional Bail in Simon Dobbin Manslaughter Case

Eleven Men Granted Bail in Manslaughter Case

Eleven men have been granted unconditional bail after being charged with the manslaughter of football fan Simon Dobbin.

The incident occurred outside the Railway Tavern in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, in March 2015, following a football match between Cambridge United and Southend United.

Simon Dobbin, a father from Mildenhall, Suffolk, suffered permanent brain damage as a result of the attack and subsequently died in October 2020 at the age of 48.

Court Hearing Details

During a hearing at Colchester Magistrates' Court, deputy district judge Natalie Plant addressed the defendants, stating:

"For each and every one of you, you are under unconditional bail until 1 May."

One additional man, currently in custody, is expected to appear at the same court via video link.

Ryan Carter, 30, who is held at HMP The Mount, did not attend the hearing but is scheduled to appear via video link at a later date.
