Man Charged with Murder of Denis Donaldson
A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Denis Donaldson, which occurred 20 years ago.
Antoin Duffy, who resides at Braade, Kincasslagh, County Donegal, was extradited from Scotland and taken into custody at Casement Aerodrome in Baldonnell, Dublin.
He appeared in person before the Special Criminal Court in Dublin on Monday, where he faced six charges.
These charges include the murder of Denis Donaldson between 3 April 2006 and 4 April 2006 at Cloghercor, Doochary, County Donegal.
Donaldson was a former prominent figure in Sinn Féin but was found murdered in a remote cottage after it was revealed that he had acted as an informant for the police and MI5 within Sinn Féin for two decades.

Additional Charges and Court Proceedings
During Monday’s court session, Duffy, aged 49, was also charged with the attempted murder of Liam Copeland McGinley on 19 November 2007.
Furthermore, he faces four charges related to firearms and ammunition offences.
These include two counts of carrying a shotgun with the intent to endanger life and two counts of carrying ammunition with the intent to endanger life, with the dates spanning from 3 April 2006 to 4 April 2006 and 19 November 2007.
Duffy appeared before judges James Faughnan, Patrick McGrath, and Sarah Berkeley.
He has been remanded in custody until 13 April.
