Deadly Fire at Bangkok Pub Claims at Least 27 Lives
At least 27 individuals have died in a fire at a pub in Bangkok, Thailand, according to the prime minister and other officials on Monday. This incident is among the deadliest fires in the city’s popular tourist area in recent years.
“There are more than 27 dead,”stated Anwut Pho-ampai from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, which provides voluntary emergency rescue services.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the fire site in the early hours of Monday and informed reporters that survivor testimonies indicated the pub quickly filled with smoke after the fire began. Many patrons attempted to escape by moving toward the back of the venue near the bathrooms; however, the establishment lacked fire escapes.
“We have recovered 27 bodies, others are being sent to hospital,”Anutin said.
A representative from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration reported that 63 people sustained injuries in the fire.
While exact details remain unclear, local media reported that the fire likely originated at the Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao pub located in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district.
