Fire Ravages Bangkok Bar, Killing at Least 27
Firefighters responded to a major fire at a bar in Bangkok shortly after midnight, where at least 27 people have died, according to Thai media reports.
Upon arrival, firefighters found patrons escaping through the front door engulfed in flames. Unverified footage shows intense flames erupting from the bar, including a woman who falls but then rises to flee the scene.
Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul spoke to journalists at the scene, stating the confirmed death toll and hospitalizations. He emphasized that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
"27 people died and several have been taken to the hospital," said Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.
Location and Firefighting Efforts
The bar, located in the Chatuchak District, is a well-known entertainment venue and restaurant, as reported by the Thai outlet Daily News.
Firefighters managed to control the blaze within approximately 30 minutes.
Photographs taken inside the bar after the fire was extinguished reveal extensive damage, with the interior completely charred and blackened, and the ceiling peeling away.
