NASA Prepares for Artemis Lunar Fly-Around Mission

NASA astronauts are preparing for the first lunar fly-around mission in over fifty years. Dustin Gohmert, an engineer at Johnson Space Center's Orion Crew Survival Systems Lab, is responsible for developing the spacesuits used in this mission.

These suits, years in development, are designed to protect astronauts during launch, landing, and potential emergency situations. Although the suits do not differ drastically from previous generations, the pressures astronauts will face and the length of time they can remain suited are

"unprecedented from what we've tried before,"
according to Gohmert.

Besides NASA's Artemis missions, the orange Orion suits are ultimately intended for future Mars transit missions.
