The historic carnival takes place in Ivrea, a medieval town near Turin, and honors the legend of Violetta, a miller’s daughter who liberated the townspeople from a tyrant who was causing starvation.

This vibrant battle symbolizes the uprising and involves nine teams on foot representing the rebellious townspeople, while the orange throwers on horse-drawn carriages symbolize the feudal armies.
