Derailment Incident Disrupts Rail Services

Rail travel between Aberdeen and Inverness is currently facing disruptions following the derailment of a track maintenance train.

The "low speed" incident occurred overnight between Huntly and Insch in Aberdeenshire, resulting in the blockage of the rail line.

Response and Impact on Services

ScotRail confirmed that there were no injuries related to the derailment and that a re-railing team has been deployed to the site.

Services running from Inverness to Aberdeen are now terminating and commencing from Huntly. The disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.

Limited rail replacement transport is available, and passengers are permitted to use Stagecoach North buses 10 and M96 with valid rail tickets.
