Wales won a fourth Commonwealth Games medal in the pool in Glasgow on Sunday evening, as the 4x200m freestyle relay team claimed bronze. Matt Richards and Dan Jones followed up the bronze they won in the 4x100m mixed freestyle relay, joining Kieran Bird and Tyler Melbourne-Smith to edge Scotland off the podium.
Australia took gold in a Commonwealth Games record time of seven minutes and 1.47 seconds, while England finished second, just under five seconds ahead of Wales. The two relay medals add to the silver and bronze won by Para-swimmers Ela Letton-Jones and Rhys Darbey respectively.
All four of Wales' medals have come in the pool, while Olympic gymnast Ruby Evans missed out on a podium place in the women's all-round individual final on Sunday evening. Wales are still waiting for their first gold medal after three days of competition in Glasgow.
How did the relay team line up?
Harry Milne, Jack Knight, Lewis Fraser and Bird competed in the heats, before Richards, Jones and Melbourne-Smith were brought into the final quartet. The change helped Wales secure another place on the podium in the relay event.
Fraser, who later finished seventh in his 100m butterfly final, had earlier helped the relay squad reach the final. He said he was happy to step in when called upon.
"When they asked me to step up for the team I didn't even hesitate," said Fraser.
"I know that's an individual event for me, but I always swim with the team on my back."
What else happened for Wales in the pool?
Theodora Taylor continued her strong performances by qualifying for the women's 100m freestyle final. The 17-year-old, who won relay bronze on Saturday, produced the fourth fastest time to reach Monday night's final.
Sophie Davies missed out on qualification despite recording a season's best, while Kyle Booth was eliminated in the men's 50m breaststroke semi-final. Meghan Willis finished sixth in the women's S9 100m backstroke final, which was won by England's Alice Tai.
Wales' medal tally remains entirely in the pool, with four medals won across the opening three days in Glasgow. The team are still searching for an elusive gold medal as the competition continues.
