Fury Returns with Points Victory Over Makhmudov
Tyson Fury marked his return to the heavyweight division with a composed points victory against Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Following the fight, Fury immediately directed his attention ringside to call out his long-time rival Anthony Joshua.
The 37-year-old British boxer, returning after a 15-month hiatus, was not at his peak performance and did not display his usual dominant style. However, Fury demonstrated sufficient ring intelligence and technical control to outbox Makhmudov over 12 largely one-sided rounds.
Fury remained cautious at times as Makhmudov landed occasional overhand rights, but the Russian opponent was generally one-dimensional. Fury secured a wide decision with the judges scoring the bout 120-108, 120-108, and 119-109 in his favor.
Post-Fight Callout to Anthony Joshua
After the conclusion of the fight, Fury crossed the ring to speak with Joshua, who was positioned on the opposite side of the apron. Organizers indicated that the long-discussed matchup between the two fighters is expected to be the next event.
This bout, which ideally would have taken place during both fighters' primes, remains one of boxing's significant what-ifs. Nevertheless, there is evident interest from both sides to finally bring the fight to fruition.
Career Records and Fight Outcomes
In his first fight since consecutive defeats to unified champion Oleksandr Usyk, Fury improved his record to 35 wins, two losses, and one draw. For Makhmudov, aged 36, this fight marked his third loss in 24 professional bouts.
