Patten and Heliovaara Defeated in French Open Men's Doubles Final

Great Britain's Henry Patten and his Finnish partner Harri Heliovaara were defeated 6-4, 6-2 by the top-seeded duo Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos in the French Open men's doubles final.

The second-seeded pair, Patten, aged 30, and Heliovaara, aged 37, were competing for their third Grand Slam title as a team, having previously won Wimbledon in 2024 and the Australian Open in 2025.

Patten and Heliovaara reached their first French Open final without losing a set. However, Patten described the match as a "tough day" after Spain's Granollers, 40, and Argentina's Zeballos, 41, successfully defended their title in a match lasting one hour and 16 minutes.

Had Patten and Heliovaara won, Patten would have been the first British player to secure the men's doubles title in Paris during the Open era.

Despite the loss, Patten and Heliovaara will jointly become world number one in men's doubles when the rankings are updated on Monday.

"It's the first time we have ever made a Roland Garros final, so that's a big positive and something to be proud of."
"I think it was a disappointing match. In doubles, if you're a little bit off your game, then you can get exposed, particularly on clay."
"It's disappointing but we'll be playing again in a week and trying to do our best again. I think we can leave with our heads held high."

Additional Information

Patten and Heliovaara's performance marks a significant milestone in their careers and British tennis history, despite falling short in the final.
