Emma Raducanu Targets WTA Tour Return in Strasbourg

Emma Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion currently ranked 30th in the world, is aiming to return to the WTA Tour at the Strasbourg tournament in two weeks. This follows her recent withdrawal from the Italian Open due to health issues.

The British number one will need a wildcard to participate in Strasbourg, as she missed the entry deadline. Raducanu, 23, received a wildcard for last year's WTA 500 event in Strasbourg, where she defeated top 20 player Daria Kasatkina before losing to American Danielle Collins.

The Strasbourg tournament, scheduled to begin on 17 May, has not yet confirmed whether Raducanu will be granted a wildcard.

Raducanu Withdraws from Rome with Post-Viral Symptoms

Raducanu withdrew from the Italian Open late on Tuesday, shortly after completing a series of media interviews. She has not fully recovered from a post-viral infection that has sidelined her since March.

"I had six weeks almost of doing nothing just trying to recover from the virus, and it takes a lot out of you physically," Raducanu told before her withdrawal.

The Strasbourg event takes place the week before the French Open. Assuming she is fit to compete, Raducanu will no longer be seeded at the French Open.
