Arnaldi Withdraws Before French Open Semi-Final

Flavio Cobolli advanced to the French Open final after fellow Italian Matteo Arnaldi withdrew just minutes before their semi-final match due to a virus.

The two close friends were scheduled to face each other in the semi-finals at 18:00 BST on Friday, competing for a spot in their first Grand Slam final.

However, Arnaldi's withdrawal was announced only 20 minutes before the players were set to take the court at Court Philippe Chatrier.

This development means world number 14 Cobolli progresses directly to the Roland Garros final on Sunday, where he will meet second seed and tournament favorite Alexander Zverev.

Arnaldi had spent a remarkable 19 hours and 42 minutes on court during his matches leading up to the semi-finals in Paris — the longest duration anyone has played en route to the last four of a major since 1991.
