Wales Captain Williams Ruled Out of Six Nations
Kate Williams, born in Swansea and who began her rugby career in New Zealand, will miss the remainder of the 2026 Women's Six Nations due to a leg injury. This injury also caused her to miss last Saturday's match against England, which Wales lost.
Flanker Bethan Lewis, who captained Wales at Ashton Gate during Williams' absence, will lead the team for the final two rounds against Ireland and Italy.
Hannah Dallavalle, who was a late withdrawal from the 62-24 defeat by the Red Roses, is expected to return for the upcoming match in Belfast on Saturday, 9 May. Fellow centre Carys Cox, who withdrew from Wales' loss to France earlier this month due to a training knock, is also set to return.
Williams, a back-rower, left the field in the second half of the 38-7 defeat by France, adding to head coach Sean Lynn's increasing concerns about injuries.
Alex Callender, who served as co-captain last year, is sidelined with an ankle injury, while wing Catherine Richards has been ruled out for the rest of the Six Nations with a serious knee injury.
Lynn's side has also suffered a loss to Scotland in the current campaign. To bolster the squad, he has added two under-21 players: centre Freya Bell, who made her senior debut as a replacement against England, and full-back Amy Williams.
