Scarlets Sign Welsh-Qualified Full-Back Isaac Murray-Macgregor
Scarlets have announced the signing of Welsh-qualified full-back Isaac Murray-Macgregor from New Zealand. The 20-year-old player joins the Llanelli-based region, coming through the Canterbury and Crusaders development pathway.
Murray-Macgregor represented New Zealand Schools in 2023 and was part of the Crusaders pre-season squad earlier this year. He qualifies to play for Wales through his mother, who hails from Llanelli. Additionally, Murray-Macgregor is a cousin of Wales and Scarlets centre Joe Roberts.
"I used to throw the ball around with Joe but never thought we may be at the same club together," said Murray-Macgregor.
"The west Wales connection makes this move really special for me and my family.
"I know I have a lot of hard work ahead, but I'm looking forward to getting started, and joining up with the squad."
Murray-Macgregor’s signing follows a similar trajectory to that of Scarlets and Wales full-back Blair Murray, who also arrived from New Zealand in 2024.
It is notable that Scarlets won only four games during the 2025-26 season, highlighting the potential impact new signings like Murray-Macgregor may have on the team’s future performance.
