Kasende to Miss Remainder of Season Following Red Card

Ospreys wing Daniel Kasende, who joined the team from South African side Cheetahs, will be sidelined for the rest of the season after receiving a red card during a United Rugby Championship (URC) match against Cardiff.

Kasende was issued a 20-minute red card for leading with his forearm while in possession of the ball. This action resulted in him striking Cardiff fly-half Callum Sheedy in the first half of Ospreys' 24-21 defeat to Cardiff.

Disciplinary Hearing and Suspension Details

At the disciplinary hearing, Kasende acknowledged that his conduct constituted foul play warranting a red card.

The initial suspension was set at six matches but was reduced to three matches due to his apology, acceptance of the red card, and good conduct throughout the disciplinary process. However, an additional match was added because of his previous disciplinary record, bringing the total suspension to four matches.

Impact on Ospreys' Season and Upcoming Matches

With Ospreys no longer in contention for the URC play-offs, Kasende will miss the final two matches of the current season: the home game against Scarlets on Saturday, 9 May in Bridgend, and the away match against Leinster seven days later.

The 30-year-old will also be unavailable for two games in the next campaign, which will include pre-season fixtures.
