Team Changes for Wales vs Scotland

Caerleon winger Gabriel Hamer-Webb is set to earn his first cap this Saturday.

Steve Tandy has made four changes to the team that suffered defeat against France, as Wales prepare to face Scotland in the Six Nations on Saturday.

Winger Gabriel Hamer-Webb from Caerleon will make his international debut, while Scarlets scrum-half Sam Costelow starts after being preferred over Dan Edwards.

Ben Carter replaces Adam Beard in the second row, and Taine Plumtree has been selected to take Olly Cracknell's place in the back row.

There are also three changes on the bench, with Gloucester lock Freddie Thomas, Cardiff fullback James Botham, and Scarlets winger Blair Murray among the substitutes for the first time this championship.

Recent Results and Attendance

Wales have lost their first two matches in this year's championship—48-7 away to England and 54-12 at home to France.

The national team has now lost 13 consecutive games in the Six Nations Championship.

The match against France last Sunday recorded the lowest home attendance ever for a Wales Six Nations game, with 57,744 supporters present.

The kickoff against Scotland at the Principality Stadium is scheduled for 16:40 on Saturday.

Pressure on Coach Steve Tandy

Steve Tandy is under pressure to achieve a positive result following two heavy defeats in the competition so far.

"I feel this is the best team to challenge Scotland, and with six days since the last game, there is also a bit of freshness," Tandy said.

Player Backgrounds

Hamer-Webb, 25, has previously played for England youth teams but qualifies to represent Wales through his mother.

He left Cardiff Rugby to join Caerleon last year and is taking Ellis Mee's place in the team.

Costelow, also 25, last represented Wales in July 2025 during an away loss to Japan.
