Fiji to Play 'Home' Nations Championship Game in Scotland
Scotland were defeated by Fiji in Suva last year.
Fiji's designated "home" match against Scotland in the inaugural Nations Championship will take place in Edinburgh at Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday, 18 July.
Additionally, Fiji will play their other two home fixtures away from their own country—against England in Liverpool and Wales in Cardiff.
The Nations Championship features 12 men's teams divided into two pools of six, separated by hemisphere: one northern and one southern. During a round-robin format, teams face opponents from the opposing pool across two international windows. The top teams from each pool will advance to the Nations Championship final, scheduled to be held in London.
In July, Scotland is set to visit Argentina and South Africa before returning to Edinburgh for the match against Fiji.
Fiji Rugby Union Perspective
Fiji Rugby Union chief executive Koli Sewabu spoke to the Scottish Rugby website regarding the venue and atmosphere for the upcoming match.
"Although our match against Scotland won't be played in Fiji, we're determined to make it feel every bit like a home game.
Fans can expect a vibrant, festival-like atmosphere, a true celebration of Fijian rugby culture both on and off the pitch.
It's also a great opportunity to raise the profile of Fijian rugby, showcase our culture, and connect with our diaspora and fans from the Northern Hemisphere.
The success of these fixtures will enable us to invest more into grassroots rugby supporting the continued growth and success of the team."
Recent Match History
Fiji achieved their first victory over Scotland since 2017 with a 29-14 win in Suva in July last year. However, Scotland had previously won decisively, 57-17, during Fiji's last visit to Murrayfield the year before.
