Wales Considers Kane James for Test Debut Against Argentina
Wales are contemplating awarding Exeter back-row forward Kane James his Test debut in the upcoming Nations Championship match against Argentina. The 21-year-old is a candidate for a bench position in the game scheduled to take place in San Juan on Saturday at 20:10 BST.
Head coach Steve Tandy plans to refresh his squad following Wales' opening victory over Fiji at the Cardiff City Stadium. The initial back row featured Alex Mann, Jac Morgan, and Aaron Wainwright, with James Botham and Taine Plumtree introduced as substitutes.
James is poised to earn his first international cap against Argentina after an impressive season with Exeter, who finished as Premiership runners-up.
Player Background and Recent Form
The former England Under-20s flanker has made 18 appearances for the Exeter Chiefs this season. He also featured as a substitute in the Premiership final, where Exeter was defeated by Northampton at the Allianz Stadium in Twickenham.
James was previously considered for selection in Tandy's Six Nations squad but was sidelined by an ankle injury sustained in a match against Cardiff in January.
He now has the opportunity to make his international debut against Argentina. This fixture will be followed by a match against South Africa in Durban on Saturday, 18 July, at 16:40 BST.
Head coach Steve Tandy is expected to announce the matchday squad on Thursday.
