Cardiff will travel to South Africa to face the Stormers in the United Rugby Championship (URC) play-offs.

Corniel van Zyl’s team secured their URC quarter-final place with a 22-16 win over the Stormers at the Arms Park in the final regular season match on Friday night.

The Welsh side had to wait until the last round of fixtures to determine their destination and will now face a rematch against the Stormers in Cape Town on the final weekend of May.

Cardiff faces the logistical challenge of organizing travel to South Africa next weekend to begin preparations for the match.

"We were delighted to reach the play-offs but there's the next job to do so we will hopefully push on and then see how long this season can go," said van Zyl.

Cardiff outscored the Stormers four tries to one and demonstrated a dynamic defensive effort, though they were outmuscled in the scrum.

Van Zyl is aware that John Dobson's Stormers side will be motivated to seek revenge.

"The set-piece [scrum] was probably a bit of a concern, but Stormers are really good at it," said van Zyl.
"So that is definitely something we'll have to look at going into the play-offs.
"There's a few individuals in their team that are great players, so it's about getting over the barriers and also playing away from home and producing the same level of performance as we did here [in Cardiff].
"That's the biggest challenge. Knockout rugby is the ultimate thing, anything can happen."
