Giannis Antetokounmpo Joins Miami Heat

Two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo has been traded from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Miami Heat. The trade involves Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis moving to Miami, while Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Kasparas Jakucionis are sent to Milwaukee.

Antetokounmpo, who was drafted by the Bucks in 2013, spent his entire NBA career with the franchise. During his tenure, he led the Bucks to an NBA championship in 2021.

Last season, the 31-year-old player publicly criticized the Bucks' management for not clearing him to play after he suffered a left knee hyperextension. His future with the Bucks had been uncertain, and the Boston Celtics were also reportedly interested in acquiring the Greek star.

Miami Heat president Pat Riley described the trade as "one of the great trades" in the history of the franchise, which has won three NBA titles in 2006, 2012, and 2013.

"I feel like sometimes people just don't listen. They listen to the sources. The main source is me. It is what it is."

Antetokounmpo made this statement in April after the Bucks failed to reach the playoffs.
