Loughborough Lightning Secure Convincing Victory Over Leeds Rhinos

Goal shooter Samantha Wallace-Joseph contributed to Loughborough Lightning's decisive win as they overcame a challenging start to defeat Leeds Rhinos 70-43 in round two of the Netball Super League season.

The match took place at Canon Medical Arena in Sheffield, and the victory elevates Loughborough Lightning to the top of the early league standings with six points from their first two games.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Lightning coach Vic Burgess expressed satisfaction with the team's performance:

"I'm really happy with the scoreline, really pleased with the win today.
It's been great to see such a solid team performance. Everybody that took the court did exactly what we asked of them."

After trailing 24-23, Lightning embarked on a scoring run to lead 37-24 by halftime and maintained control throughout the remainder of the match.

"The first quarter was tough, I'm really pleased with all of the girls' performances," Burgess added.

London Pulse Edge Dragons in Narrow Victory

In another Friday fixture, defending champions London Pulse narrowly held off a late surge from Dragons at the Cardiff House of Sport, securing a 51-50 win and maintaining a perfect record with two wins from two matches.

Pulse led 42-33 at the end of the third quarter and extended their lead to 11 points early in the fourth quarter. However, the Dragons, who finished last in the revamped NSL last season with only two wins from 14 games, applied increasing pressure in the final six minutes. Their efforts were spearheaded by player of the match Jacqui Newton.
