Details of the Final Round and Play-Off
JT Poston claimed the most significant win of his career by defeating Ryan Gerard in a play-off at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio. Poston, who held a four-stroke lead following a weather-interrupted third round, made a birdie on the final hole to complete an even-par 72 in the fourth round, finishing at 12 under par alongside Gerard.
Both players missed birdie putts on the first play-off hole, but Poston successfully sank his putt on the second hole to secure his fourth PGA Tour title and earn a place at the upcoming Open Championship.
Round Progress and Competitor Performances
At 33 years old, Poston lost his lead after four bogeys in the first 13 holes, with England's Tommy Fleetwood briefly taking the lead on the 15th hole. Fleetwood bogeyed the 17th hole and ultimately tied for fourth place with American Sam Burns at 10 under par. Wyndham Clark, who shot a 67 in the final round, finished third.
American world number one Scottie Scheffler, who was attempting to match Tiger Woods' record of three consecutive tournament wins, finished tied for 12th place alongside England's Justin Rose and Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy.
Weather Impact and Round Suspension
Play was suspended on Saturday due to thunderstorms, with the third round resuming and concluding on Sunday morning. When play was halted, Poston and Gerard were tied at nine under on the sixth green. Poston then extended his lead to 12 under, while Gerard was four shots behind. Sam Burns was third at seven under, with Fleetwood and Clark at six under, rounding out the top five after three rounds.
