Fitzpatrick Maintains Lead at RBC Heritage
England's Matt Fitzpatrick, the 2022 US Open champion, carded an impressive third-round 68 to establish a three-shot lead over Scottie Scheffler heading into the final round of the RBC Heritage in South Carolina.
Fitzpatrick began his round with some early difficulties, recording bogeys on each of the first two holes. However, he recovered to reach par by the 12th hole. Birdies on the 12th and 14th holes, followed by a remarkable chip-in eagle on the 15th, secured his 68 for the day and extended his advantage.
Scheffler's Surge Puts Pressure on Leader
Despite Fitzpatrick's solid lead, world number one Scottie Scheffler mounted a strong challenge with a seven-under-par 64. The four-time major winner made eight birdies and only dropped one shot with a bogey on the seventh hole.
Scheffler is aiming for his 21st PGA Tour title on Sunday and expressed admiration for Fitzpatrick after completing his round.
"I admire him because he works really hard," Scheffler said. "He's a guy that I see always doing stuff in order to play well. He's a guy that he gets really into his stats. He's a guy that's going to check every single box that he can in order to get out here and play well."
