Incident Overview
Two youths have been charged following an incident in which a brick was thrown at a football supporters' bus in Dumfries. The event occurred after the Scottish League 1 match between Queen of the South and Stenhousemuir on Saturday. The bus was transporting visiting supporters at the time of the incident.
Video footage capturing the event on Lochfield Road was submitted to Police Scotland for investigation.
Legal Actions
Police Scotland confirmed that two male youths have been charged in connection with the incident. They are scheduled to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court at a later date. There were no reports of injuries resulting from the event.
Club Responses
Queen of the South issued a statement condemning the incident and emphasized that anyone found responsible would face a banning order. The club stated:
"Everyone is entitled to attend matches safely and with respect."
Additionally, Queen of the South extended an apology to Stenhousemuir and expressed gratitude that no one was harmed.
Stenhousemuir also released a statement expressing pride in how their team, supporters, and colleagues at Queen of the South handled the situation. They stated:
"We are extremely proud of how our team, wider support and colleagues at Queen of the South have dealt with the incident."
The statement further noted relief that all supporters returned safely.
