Rangers Aim for Top Spot with Win Over Dundee United

Rangers will ascend to the top of the Scottish Premiership table if they secure a victory against Dundee United on Saturday.

Head coach Danny Rohl emphasizes the importance of maintaining a "hunter" mentality in the competitive three-way title race, regardless of whether his team moves into first place this weekend.

"We know at the end the importance is after the last match day to be top," Rohl said.
"It is nice to have this now, but even if we would be [top on Saturday], I would still speak from [the position of] we are the hunters. We want to hunt wins. We want to hunt our opponent. And with this mindset, we should go in the next seven games."

A home win at Ibrox on Saturday would mark Rangers' first time leading the table since March 2024. Meanwhile, current leaders Hearts and third-placed Celtic will not play until Sunday, facing Livingston and Dundee respectively.

Rangers' Recent Form and Squad Confidence

Rangers have recorded four wins and four draws in their last eight Premiership matches.

"I feel really good because I see my group at the moment," Rohl, who took over managerial duties in October when Rangers were 13 points behind the leaders, stated. "I also see the development.
"There is no doubt my group is strong, convinced, and we have the quality to win the league."

Excitement Builds in Scottish Premiership Title Race

With just five points separating the top three teams and seven matches remaining, Rohl notes that the intense competition is attracting attention across Europe.

"I expect a really exciting split," the German coach remarked. "You never know, it could be after two matchdays you are six points ahead, because the picture is like this. Or you have stolen three points from behind. You never know what happens.
"Maybe there are some turns, maybe not. I think this is exciting for everyone. Especially with three teams, and three teams at the moment are very close to each other. For a neutral supporter, a football fan, this is maybe one of the exciting title races in Europe at the moment.
"As a manager, you look forward, because you know with your group you can win this title. This is also a great feeling. And I'm looking forward to this.
"But you have to do it first two more games. Two more wins, and then you have a good position."

Upcoming Challenge Against Dundee United

Rangers have not yet defeated Dundee United this season, with both previous encounters ending in 2-2 draws after late goals secured by the Glasgow side.

"We know what we face and it will be a challenge," Rohl added. "They have a small chance to make the top six and both teams want to win and we need a good performance."
