Cardiff City Women Appoint Noah Bushby as New Manager
Noah Bushby has been appointed as the new manager and head of women's and girls' football at Cardiff City, following seven years of involvement with the club.
He takes over from Iain Darbyshire, who is departing after guiding the Bluebirds to three consecutive Adran Premier titles, although the team fell short against Wrexham in the current season.
Previously serving as assistant coach to Darbyshire, Bushby initially joined Cardiff to manage the under-16 squad, leading them to victory in the FAW Girls' Cup. He then progressed to oversee the Under-19 team, securing a league title and the SWFA Women's Cup in April 2024.
Throughout his tenure with Cardiff's youth teams, Bushby contributed to the development of current Adran Premier players including Mikayla Cook and Madison Lloyd.
He officially assumes his new role on Monday and will lead Cardiff City in the Welsh Cup Final against Swansea City on 19 April.
Leadership Transition and Club Statements
Cardiff City’s outgoing manager, Iain Darbyshire, is set to leave at the end of the season.
In response to his appointment, Bushby expressed his enthusiasm for the role.
"It's a very proud moment for me," Bushby said on the club's website. "I've been a part of the success that we've had and I know what it takes to be successful. I want us to continue that and keep pushing our women's programme forward.
"I will have learned a lot from Iain [Darbyshire], he's been a great leader of our team but I have my own ideas and my own ways of doing things. I definitely want to put those into place."
Cardiff City chief executive Ken Choo also commented on the appointment.
"Noah has been a key part of the progress within our women's and girls' programme for several years, and his appointment reflects the impact he has already made.
"His work in building a clear and effective pathway for young players has been instrumental, and that experience came through strongly during the interview process."
