No Court Action Following Investigation into Football Chants

No court action will be pursued after seven individuals were charged in connection with alleged "hate crime" chants during a football match between St Mirren and Aberdeen, according to BBC Scotland News.

Aberdeen Football Club issued an apology to a St Mirren supporter following the Scottish Premiership fixture held in Paisley.

Police Scotland reported that the individuals charged included two male youths aged 16, a 19-year-old man, two men aged 22, and two men aged 23. They were charged with threatening and abusive behaviour.

Crown Office Decision

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) has stated that the procurator fiscal has decided that no proceedings will be taken at this time.

COPFS confirmed receipt of a report concerning seven males aged between 16 and 23, related to an incident said to have occurred on 1 May 2025.

There was

"careful consideration of the facts and circumstances"
of the case, including the admissible evidence available.

"The Crown reserves the right to proceed in the future should further evidence become available,"
the statement added.
