Martinez Sent Off for Hair Pull on Calvert-Lewin
Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez was dismissed after 56 minutes during the match against Leeds United at Old Trafford for pulling the hair of Leeds striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The 28-year-old Argentine received a straight red card and is set to serve a three-match suspension following the incident.
At the time, United were trailing 2-0, with Noah Okafor having scored twice in the first half. Martinez attempted to impede the Leeds forward by grabbing his hair.
Referee Paul Tierney consulted the pitchside monitor after a video assistant referee (VAR) review before issuing the red card to Martinez.
"After review, Manchester United 6 is guilty of pulling his hair - violent conduct. Final decision is red card," Tierney announced to the stadium.
The Premier League Match Centre confirmed the decision on X, stating: "After VAR review, the referee issued a red card to Martinez for violent conduct."
This match marked Martinez's first Premier League start since the 1-1 draw against West Ham on 10 February, following his recovery from a calf injury.
