Casemiro's Departure Confirmed by Manchester United

Casemiro, who secured five Champions League titles with his former club Real Madrid, is set to leave Manchester United at the end of the current season. The 34-year-old Brazilian midfielder announced in January that he would not renew his contract, which pays him £350,000 per week, and will depart once it expires.

Despite Casemiro's impressive performances throughout the season, Manchester United have decided against offering a new contract. The club's co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, expressed surprise at Casemiro's £18.2 million annual salary and has committed to reducing costs. This financial consideration is believed to have influenced the club's choice not to activate the contract extension option, allowing them to proceed with their long-term squad restructuring.

Casemiro requested that the club make the announcement public to prevent any misunderstandings as the season progresses. Since the announcement, he has continued to deliver outstanding performances, including scoring his seventh goal of the season in a match against Aston Villa on Sunday. Notably, six of these goals have been headers.

Following his goal against Aston Villa, Casemiro celebrated by repeatedly pointing to the Manchester United badge on his shirt in front of the Stretford End. Fans responded by chanting "One more year, Casemiro," both during and after the match as he left the pitch.

Team captain Bruno Fernandes and defender Leny Yoro expressed their hopes that Casemiro would remain with the club. However, sources informed that Manchester United does not intend to reconsider its decision.

Interim head coach Michael Carrick also indicated that there would be no reversal regarding Casemiro's future at Old Trafford.

"When something is decided it makes it a little bit easier and everyone understands the situation," said Carrick. "The impact he's had has been terrific, through his influence within the team and with big moments and goals. There was a nice moment at the end with the supporters. He'll enjoy that one."
