Livingston Announces Deadline for Head Coach Applications

Livingston Football Club has established a formal deadline of Friday for submissions from candidates interested in the vacant head coach position. The club has reported receiving a substantial number of applications from both domestic and international prospects.

In addition, Scott Arfield, aged 37, is currently engaged in discussions regarding a potential player-coach role at the club.

Scott Arfield's Interim Role

Following the departure of Marvin Bartley in early May, Arfield assumed the role of interim player-head coach. During his tenure, he managed the team through a draw and two defeats. These matches occurred after Livingston's relegation to the Scottish Championship had already been confirmed.

"We can confirm that there has been a significant level of interest in the club's vacant head coach position, with a high volume of applications received from both domestic and international candidates," the club stated.

Recent Managerial Changes

David Martindale began the season as Livingston's manager, having successfully secured the club's immediate return to the Scottish Premiership through the play-offs. In early February, Martindale transitioned to a sporting director role, and Marvin Bartley was appointed head coach, overseeing 11 games.

Bartley, along with assistant Neil Hastings, resigned after being asked to reapply for their positions within the club.

"We had no option but to resign," Bartley expressed regarding the circumstances leading to his departure.

Arfield's Future and Player Recruitment

Scott Arfield has indicated that he does not intend to apply for the head coach position on a permanent basis.

Meanwhile, Livingston has initiated recruitment efforts for the upcoming season. Winger Sam Nicholson, aged 31, and forward Tyrese Sinclair, aged 25, have both agreed to contracts with the club.
