Free Summer Sports Sessions in Sheffield Parks

Free sport sessions will be available in Sheffield to encourage families to stay active during the school summer holidays.

More than a dozen parks and green spaces throughout the city, including Firth Park, Greenhill Park, and Gleadless Common, will host two-hour sessions.

The sessions, scheduled for afternoons and evenings, will feature football, rounders, and various multi-sport activities. Family-friendly games suitable for all ages and abilities will also be provided.

Everyone Active, the organisation contracted by Sheffield City Council to manage leisure, health, and wellbeing facilities, will lead the events. Free food and drink will be offered to participants.

"The scheme provides activities for those who might not necessarily be able to go away on holiday because of affordability.

We put expert coaches in place so people can try new things as well as activities they will have done before."

The summer activity sessions will run from 20 July to 28 August. Advance booking is recommended.

"The school summer holidays are always an exciting time for children right across Sheffield, but it can give parents a challenge of how to entertain their kids during the daytime.

These activities are perfect for getting families out and about across the city, getting them active and having lots of fun, hopefully in the sun."

Councillor Brian Holmshaw, Chair of the Communities, Parks and Leisure Policy Committee, Sheffield City Council
