Flint's Welsh Cup Final Focus Amid Relegation Battle

Flint Town United's head of coaching, Lee Fowler, has emphasized that the team must set aside concerns about their league relegation battle as they prepare to compete in the JD Welsh Cup final.

The Silkmen, who last secured the Welsh Cup in 1954, are scheduled to face Caernarfon Town at Newport's Rodney Parade on Sunday.

However, Flint enters the final with their status in the Cymru Premier still uncertain, currently positioned just two points above the relegation zone with only one league match remaining.

"This game is a one-off game 1 don't worry about the anxiety of the league,"

said former Wales U21 international Fowler.

"This is a really good occasion that every one of us should be proud of.

Maybe this has been at the back of their minds. Now we can fully focus on this game and then we can deal with the league next week."

Flint's final league fixture is an away match against Cardiff Met on Saturday, 18 April. To avoid relegation, they must at least match the result of Bala, who will be playing at home against Briton Ferry Llansawel on the same day.

Fowler acknowledges that Caernarfon Town, featuring former New Saints players Brad Young and Connor Roberts, are the favorites heading into the final.

"They are favourites and they should be 1 the money they've spent and the players they've brought in,"

Fowler said.

"It's a huge game for them and they've got to recoup some of that money."

Despite this, Fowler, who began his 21-club career including stints at Wrexham and Newport County after playing in the Premier League for Coventry City, aims to use the underdog status to Flint's advantage.

"We know we're the underdogs and we know everyone expects Caernarfon to win, which is great because there's no pressure on the players,"

he added.

"We've just got to enjoy it and the players to be the best version of themselves.

We know on our day we can beat any team and we've done it."
