Heartbreak for Dunfermline Footballer Graham Carey
Dunfermline Athletic footballer Graham Carey has expressed that he is "heartbroken beyond words" following the death of his partner, Rachel Borthwick.
Rachel, a mother of two, was diagnosed with an incurable form of breast cancer after discovering a lump in September 2021.
She traveled to India to receive treatment and passed away on Sunday with her parents by her side.
Carey, 36, an Irish forward currently on loan at Dunfermline from Livingston, has missed recent games to spend time with Rachel.
He announced the passing of his "best friend" on social media on Wednesday.
No words can describe the pain and sadness of having to explain to my babies that their beautiful Mummy and best friend will not be coming home.

They are her whole world and always will be. It was her only motivation over these past few years dealing with this horrible illness.
They can take some comfort that their Mummy is no longer in any pain and can now rest in peace. We will always love you more than you could ever know.
Rachel's Battle with Cancer
Rachel's cancer recurred twice in 2023, and she documented her journey on her Instagram page.
She received treatment in Germany before seeking further care in India.
New tumours had developed and spread to both lungs, bones, and possibly her brain.
A GoFundMe page was created to raise funds for alternative treatment and to "alleviate some of the pressure and stress," raising more than £150,000.
A message on the fundraising page stated:
Rachel fought an incredibly brave and relentless four-and-a-half year battle with triple negative breast cancer.
She faced every challenge with strength, courage, and without complaint, giving everything she had for as long as she could.
