Craig Gordon to Be Oldest Player at World Cup but Not Assigned No. 1 Shirt
Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon started Scotland's 4-1 friendly victory against Curacao on Saturday.
Craig Gordon will be the oldest player at the World Cup this summer at 43 years old; however, he has not been given the number one jersey.
Following the submission of official squad lists from all 48 participating nations, Gordon has been assigned the number 21 shirt. Meanwhile, fellow goalkeepers Angus Gunn and Liam Kelly have been allocated numbers one and twelve respectively.
Manchester United's Tyler Fletcher has been given the number eight shirt after the teenage midfielder was unexpectedly called up as a replacement for the injured Billy Gilmour on Sunday.
Striker Lyndon Dykes will wear Scotland's number nine, forward Che Adams will don number ten, and Lawrence Shankland has been assigned number twenty.
It remains uncertain how much these squad number assignments reflect head coach Steve Clarke's intentions for the starting lineup. For example, centre-back Grant Hanley has been given the number five shirt.
Scotland has traveled to the United States and will play their final World Cup warm-up match against Bolivia, which will be broadcast live on the BBC, on Saturday at 21:00 BST.
The team will then begin their tournament campaign the following weekend, facing Haiti in Boston on Sunday 14 June at 02:00 BST, before matches against Morocco and Brazil.
