Disciplinary Measures for Celtic Following Pitch Incursions

Celtic will face the loss of home seats for one Scottish Premiership match if another "significant pitch incursion" occurs before the conclusion of the 2027-28 season.

The club is at risk of losing 1,000 spectator places at a home game if a repeat of the pitch invasion that followed their title-winning match against Hearts in May takes place.

During the final-day decider, fans entered the pitch after Callum Osmand scored a late goal, making it 3-1 in the seventh minute of stoppage time.

Hearts players left the stadium immediately, still in their kits, citing a

"menacing and threatening atmosphere inside the stadium"
. Celtic subsequently issued an apology for the incident.

SPFL Disciplinary Actions and Fines

The Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) announced disciplinary actions against several clubs due to unacceptable fan conduct. Celtic has been fined £7,500 and given a suspended penalty valid until 30 June 2028. This penalty would be activated if a "significant pitch incursion" occurs again.

Additionally, Celtic was fined £2,500 for fans entering the pitch and using pyrotechnics during their previous away match against Motherwell. That game was decided by a 99th-minute penalty scored by Kelechi Iheanacho in Celtic's favor.

For this incident, Celtic will lose 100 tickets from their allocation for one away league match, with the sanction suspended until 30 June 2027.

Motherwell was also fined £2,500 for the same offenses during the fixture. The club will have block E in the East Stand closed for one match if similar behavior recurs before 30 June 2027.

Additional Club Sanctions

Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Hamilton Academical were fined £1,000 each for fans entering the field during their 2 May match in the Highlands.

Inverness will have half of their North Stand closed for a league game, with this punishment suspended until 30 June 2028.

Hamilton received a formal warning and reprimand for a pitch invasion during their home match against Clyde on 15 May.

Stenhousemuir faces a reduction of 150 seats at Ochilview Park for one match, suspended until 30 June 2028, following supporter celebrations of promotion to the Championship on the Alloa Athletic pitch on 16 May.
