Potter and Yee Shine in Yokohama Triathlon

Beth Potter secured second place in Yokohama for the second year running, while Alex Yee returned to the men's triathlon, finishing fifth on Saturday.

Potter, the 34-year-old Olympic bronze medallist and third overall in the 2025 World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS), completed the race in one hour 50 minutes 15 seconds, just two seconds behind the winner, Tilda Mansson.

Throughout the race, Potter and Mansson led the field, engaging in a competitive sprint finish for the title.

For Potter, this result echoed last year's event where she narrowly missed gold, finishing behind Jeanne Lehair, who placed third this time.

All four British women in the competition achieved top-15 finishes, with Sian Rainsley placing 10th, Jess Fullagar 11th, and Kate Waugh 14th, contributing to a strong British presence.

Men's Race Highlights Yee's Return

In the men's race, Olympic champion Alex Yee finished fifth in his comeback to the competition.

The 27-year-old, who won triathlon gold at Paris 2024 and secured the world title later that year, spent much of 2025 focusing on marathon running, becoming the second-fastest Briton ever in December.

Despite an 18-month hiatus from WTCS events, Yee finished just 44 seconds behind the winner, Matthew Hauser, who made history as the first man to defend his title in Yokohama.

Miguel Hidalgo took second place, while Luke Willian claimed the final podium spot after a sprint for third, finishing ahead of Vetle Thorn.

Yee's British teammates Jack Willis and Max Stapley finished eighth and 15th respectively.

Para Racing Success for British Athletes

In the para racing categories, Great Britain's Henry Urand won gold in the PTS3 classification, with teammate Ryan Taylor finishing fifth. Josh Landmann secured sixth place in the PTWC category.

Additionally, Hannah Moore earned a silver medal in the women's PTS4 event, adding to the British team's podium finishes.
