Trial Date Set for Suspects in Motherwell Shooting
Two individuals are scheduled to stand trial next year, accused of murdering a man by shooting him in his home.
Robert Clark, 59, and Nathan Gordon, 31, are alleged to have assaulted Jordan Gray, 26, at Shields Court, Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, on 14 December last year.
Court documents state that the suspects repeatedly discharged a firearm at Gray, shooting him in the body. The charges indicate that the accused had prior malice and ill-will towards Gray.
Both men have pleaded not guilty. The trial is set for October 2027 at the High Court in Glasgow.
Additional Charges
Another charge alleges that Clark possessed a firearm and ammunition without lawful authority or reasonable excuse on the day of the killing.
A further allegation accuses Clark and Gordon of attempting to defeat the ends of justice on 14 and 15 December 2025.
It is claimed that the pair disposed of the firearm and concealed their involvement by removing, hiding, and destroying evidence.
Legal Representation and Statements
Donald Findlay KC, representing Clark, entered a not guilty plea on behalf of his client.
"It is a straightforward matter, the Crown have got the wrong person."
Graeme Brown, defending Gordon, also pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutor Kath Harper noted that currently there is "little that can be agreed."
