Joint Trial Decision for Sir Jeffrey Donaldson and Lady Eleanor Donaldson
A judge has ruled that the trial of facts concerning Lady Eleanor Donaldson will be conducted as part of the same trial as her husband, the former DUP leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson.
The proceedings are scheduled to commence next Tuesday with jury selection at Newry Crown Court.
Both Sir Jeffrey and Lady Eleanor Donaldson have entered pleas of not guilty to a total of 23 sex abuse charges, which involve two alleged victims.
Judge Paul Ramsey made this decision following legal arguments regarding whether the cases should be separated and heard at different times.
However, he decided they would happen "simultaneously".
