A British Royal Air Force base located in Cyprus was reportedly targeted by a "suspected drone strike" on Sunday night, according to the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The MoD stated that the armed forces were actively responding to the incident at RAF Akrotiri around midnight local time (22:00 GMT). The BBC has learned that there were no casualties resulting from the suspected strike.

"Our force protection in the region is at the highest level and the base has responded to defend our people," the MoD said.
