A police officer discharged a single firearm shot following a call to a disturbance on a housing estate where an individual was reported to be armed with a knife.
Dyfed-Powys Police has proactively referred the matter to the police watchdog after the event occurred at Bunkers Hill, Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, on Saturday evening.
Details of the Discharge
The police force clarified that the firearm was not aimed at any person and that no injuries resulted from the discharge of the weapon.
Responding officers, including a firearms unit, were sent to the location after a call was received at 17:45 GMT. The shot was fired at 18:82, according to the police statement.
Investigation and Official Statements
Deputy Chief Constable Gary Phillips confirmed that an investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances surrounding the firearm discharge. The force has also referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct for independent oversight.
