A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) stated:

"Police believe these incidents may be linked, and appeal to anyone who has CCTV or doorbell camera footage from around these times to check it as it may assist enquiries."

Community Response and Call for Vigilance

Foyle SDLP MLA Mark H Durkan has urged residents to remain vigilant in light of these events.

"It is very worrying and a chilling reminder to the rest of us just to make sure our homes and property is secure when we go to bed at night,"

he said during an interview on BBC Radio Foyle's North West Today programme. Durkan shared that a friend of his was among those affected by the thefts.

"He had been at home with the children.
He got up and got them ready to go to school yesterday morning and it's only when they were going out to door and one of the children turned and said, 'daddy where's your car?', that he realised what had happened."

Durkan emphasized the impact of vehicle theft on families, noting:

"The theft of a vehicle causes massive inconvenience to families as well as potentially a massive cost and a huge trauma."
