Incident Overview

A nurse punched a neighbour in the chest and forcibly entered her home during a dispute over parking.

Christine Sharman, 69, from Llan Ffestiniog, Gwynedd, became upset when Alun Jones parked outside her residence on 25 July 2025.

She approached his property, demanded the vehicle be moved, then pushed her way inside and "lunged" at his wife, Jane Jones, striking her in the chest, according to court proceedings.

Court Proceedings and Background

Sharman was found guilty of assault and using violence to enter the house at Caernarfon Magistrates' Court on Friday.

The court heard that there had been longstanding "bad blood" between Sharman and her neighbours, Alun and Jane Jones, frequently related to parking issues.

Penybryn, located in the centre of Llan Ffestiniog, is a narrow street with parking available only on one side — the side where Sharman resides.

Details of the Incident

On the day of the incident, Sharman stated she became stressed after Alun Jones parked his black Vauxhall outside her home.

CCTV footage captured her walking angrily up the path to their front door.

When Alun answered, the court was told, she demanded the car be moved, loudly asking:

"What are you doing?"

He declined to respond and closed the door.

Jane Jones testified that she later answered a second knock at the door.

She described Sharman as "pushing against the door," adding:

"I was trying to shut it, but she was against it with her full weight so I couldn't.
I got in the way and got a punch in the chest with a closed fist.
I was in shock, I wasn't expecting it at all,"
Jane Jones added.

Defendant's Testimony

During her testimony, Sharman said she had intended to speak calmly and was upset because she needed access to load her car for work.

Fighting back tears, she stated:

"I have a long serving history as a registered nurse.
I'm caring and compassionate. If I'd punched anyone, I'd be sacked."

She also maintained:

"I didn't assault anyone,"
denying the charges.

Judgment and Sentencing

However, magistrates found Jane Jones's account credible and convicted Sharman of assault and using violence to enter the house.

Sharman is scheduled to be sentenced on 11 May.
